We do not believe that the case has been made for a new approach on collective redress at the EU level or that any new EU action would be more likely to be well used than the existing mechanisms available either at national level, or provided for in the Injunctions Directive, the Consumer Protection Co-operation Regulation and the Small Claims Regulation.

The Commission has done a good job in trying to debunk several of the more outlandish ‘myths’ that have developed about the EU “…based on twisted facts or even lies. The stories can make entertaining reading, but many people believe them and often come away with a picture of the EU as a bunch of mad 'eurocrats'…”. We follow that good example with this short document, in a similar attempt to correct some of the myths and rumours created about the food supply chain.
