Introduction

The ERRT is a network of business leaders established to express the views of large retailers on a range of issues of common interest.
Their businesses operate worldwide and represent a cross-section of the retail sector. They employ well over 1 million people worldwide: the majority of these jobs are in the European Union. The combined turnover of the ERRT members is over €300 billion.

The retail sector in the European Union is vibrant and successful. It makes a vital contribution to the economic and social well being of the EU. The retail sector makes a major contribution to vocational training and to the employment of young people and women.


Objectives

  • To ensure that the European institutions are aware of the key issues affecting the retail business and consumers.
  • To promote the continuous innovation of the retail sector for the benefit of the consumer.
  • To offer a channel of communication and representation between the sector and policy and opinion formers at the European level.
  • To harness the vision and creativity of members to promote the retail sector’s contribution to the economic vitality of the EU in the interests of all stakeholders.
